When cleaning, never put the hot casserole under cold water. Let cast iron cool completely before washing it. Clean thoroughly after each use.
Use a sponge, nylon cloth or dishcloth to clean the casserole. Do not use oven cleaners, steel wool, harsh detergents or chlorine bleach.
Remove food residue by soaking the pan in hot water for 15 to 20 minutes before washing. Rub off food residue with a soft dishwashing brush or nylon cloth. Wash, rinse and dry thoroughly. Store your cast iron casserole in a dry cabinet.
